What we’re looking for

Essays/articles which fall into one of the following categories:

• Funny
• Intelligent/witty
• Insightful
• Genuinely interesting

Also, pieces might explore the following subjects:

• Personal experience
• Culture, pop culture
• Current events
• Profiles

For some great examples of the type/subject matter/tone of writing we’re looking for, take a look at The Morning News and/or The New Yorker.

Procedure

Fill out the form on the contact page with your piece pasted into the body of the form. Remember to give your name as you wish it to appear in the publication, as well as a 1-2 sentence biography of yourself. If special formatting is required, detail that along with your submission.

Submissions must not have been previously published online; The Hatchet retains all online rights to submissions it chooses to publish.
